What is an A2 driver's license?

A2 is a tractor-trailer driver's license. Due to the special nature of the vehicle type, the A2 license can only be obtained through an upgrade. This means you must first obtain a B1, B2, or A1 license before upgrading to an A2 license. However, full-time driving education students can directly upgrade from C1 to A2. According to the "Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses" and the new "Streamlining Administration, Delegating Power, and Improving Services" reform, the conditions for applying for a tractor-trailer driving license are as follows: 1. Age between 22 and 50 years old; 2. Height of at least 155 cm; 3. Naked or corrected visual acuity of at least 5.0 on the logarithmic visual acuity chart; 4. No red-green color blindness; 5. Ability to distinguish the direction of sound sources with each ear at a distance of 50 cm from a tuning fork; 6. Both thumbs must be intact, and each hand must have at least three other fingers intact, with normal limb and finger movement functions; 7. Both lower limbs must be intact with normal movement functions, and the length difference should not exceed 5 cm; 8. Trunk and neck: no movement dysfunction; 9. To apply for an upgrade to a tractor-trailer driving license, you must have held a medium-sized bus (B1) driving license for at least three years or a large bus (A1) driving license for at least one year, with no record of accumulating 12 penalty points in the last three consecutive scoring cycles before application. Alternatively, you must have held a large truck (B2) driving license for at least two years with no record of accumulating 12 penalty points in the corresponding cycles. 10. After obtaining an A2 license, you can drive tractor-trailers (A2), medium-sized buses (B1), large trucks (B2), small cars (C1), small automatic transmission cars (C2), low-speed trucks (C3), three-wheeled cars (C4), small automatic transmission passenger cars for the disabled (C5), and wheeled self-propelled machinery (M).
