What is a Projector Headlight?

Automotive projectors are primarily used for xenon headlights. A headlight projector is an optical glass lens assembly added in front of the headlight bulb, which helps focus the light more effectively, extends the beam range, and thus achieves better illumination. Since xenon lights produce high-intensity but scattered light, they can easily dazzle other drivers during operation. The projector, with its strong light-concentrating capability, functions to gather the scattered light into more parallel beams—essentially acting as a light condenser. After installing a headlight projector, the light beam no longer disperses, improving road illumination without interfering with oncoming traffic, thereby enhancing driving safety. Automotive headlight projectors generally come in two types: single-beam and dual-beam projectors. A single-beam projector controls one bulb exclusively, featuring separate high and low beams. In contrast, a dual-beam projector switches between high and low beams by adjusting the angle of an internal shutter within the lens.
