What is a Coilover for Sedans?

Coilovers are shock absorbers for sedans. Coilover suspensions allow adjustment of the ground clearance at all four corners of the vehicle, as well as tuning of spring compression, shock body, and damping characteristics. A shock absorber consists of a spring and a shock cylinder, functioning to mitigate road impacts, absorb vibrations during bumps, and restore the vehicle to normal driving conditions. Working principle: When relative motion occurs between the frame/body and axle due to vibration, the piston inside the shock absorber moves up and down. The hydraulic fluid inside the shock absorber repeatedly flows from one chamber to another through various orifices. The friction between the fluid and orifice walls, along with internal friction among fluid molecules, creates damping forces that convert the vehicle's vibration energy into heat energy, which is then dissipated into the air by the shock absorber.
