What is a Car Cover?

A car cover, commonly known as automotive clothing, is an outer protective garment made of canvas or other flexible and durable materials, tailored to the vehicle's dimensions. It serves as a protective accessory for cars, effectively safeguarding the paint and window glass. How to Install a Car Cover: Place the car cover on the roof and unfold it. First, cover the two side mirrors, then pull the front section down to the bottom of the bumper—the elastic band will automatically tighten. Next, pull the rear section to the bottom of the car's rear—the elastic band will also tighten automatically. In windy conditions, secure the four windproof straps to the four contour positions. How to Remove a Car Cover: First, lift the front and rear sections of the car cover, then remove the two mirror covers. Fold the car cover from front to back (or vice versa) on the roof. Once folded to approximately 30 cm in width, perform a lengthwise fold.
Simply put, a car cover is a protective shell that fits over your vehicle. I always use it when parking outdoors. Its main functions are to block dust, provide sun protection, shield against rain, and prevent contaminants like bird droppings or tree branches from damaging the car's paint. In summer, the first thing I do after parking is to put on the cover—it reduces the car's surface temperature by over 20 degrees compared to direct sunlight, making the steering wheel cool to the touch. The material is also crucial: the outer layer must be weather-resistant and UV-proof, while the inner lining should be soft fleece to avoid scratching the paint. I opted for a three-layer composite material with a waterproof coating. Just remember to choose the right size—too loose and it flaps in the wind, potentially scratching the car; too tight and it's hard to install. Shake off any sand before and after each use to extend the cover's lifespan.
