What is a C1D driver's license?

C1D driver's license is an extension of the C1 license that adds the permitted vehicle types of a D license. The D license is a motorcycle driver's license, which allows driving ordinary three-wheeled motorcycles, ordinary two-wheeled motorcycles, and light motorcycles. The C1 license permits driving small and micro passenger vehicles, light and micro cargo vehicles, as well as light, small, and micro special-purpose vehicles. Motorcycles are not within the permitted driving scope of a C1 license. Driving a motorcycle with a C1 license will result in a one-time deduction of 12 points, a fine, and may even be treated as driving without a license, leading to detention. The permitted driving scope of a C1D license includes small and micro passenger vehicles with a total length not exceeding 6 meters.
I remember when I first started driving, I obtained a C1 license which allowed me to drive small cars. Later, because I wanted to ride a motorcycle, I added a D license. Now I can switch between them freely, making it convenient to drive to work or ride for fun. The C1 license is for cars and small trucks, while the D license is specifically for motorcycles. When taking the tests, the C1 required learning theory, reversing, road tests, etc., while the D was relatively simpler but emphasized helmets and safety awareness. Actually, C1D isn’t a separate license type—it means you’ve passed both categories, and your license will indicate the permitted vehicle types. In daily use, this is very flexible: driving a car keeps you warm in winter, while riding a motorcycle is more thrilling in summer. However, riding a motorcycle carries higher risks, so it’s essential to develop the habit of wearing protective gear. When renewing your license, remember to check its validity to avoid complications from expiration.
