What happens when engine oil is low?
1 Answers
Insufficient engine oil will increase engine wear. Prolonged oil deficiency can lead to severe burning and damage to the engine, resulting in abnormal operation. When the oil level in the engine oil pan is too low, contact areas such as bearings and journals will experience poor lubrication due to insufficient oil, accelerating wear and potentially causing bearing seizure or shaft locking. Engine oil, also known as engine lubricant, serves multiple functions including lubrication and wear reduction, auxiliary cooling, sealing and leak prevention, rust and corrosion protection, as well as shock absorption. It is often referred to as the "blood" of a car. Engine oil consists of base oil and additives, with the base oil being the primary component that determines the fundamental properties of the lubricant.
