What happens if the secondary air pump fails and is not replaced?

The secondary air pump is one of the external purification devices used to reduce exhaust emissions. Its function is to blow secondary air into the exhaust gas, increasing the oxygen content in the exhaust. Below is relevant knowledge about the secondary air pump: 1. Function: Due to the increased oxygen content, unburned carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas get another chance to burn at high temperatures, thereby reducing the emission of harmful substances in the exhaust and serving an environmental protection purpose. 2. Detection: To keep it in working condition, there is a self-diagnosis during cold start and hot start idle, but it only operates for part of the time. Of course, if the engine warning light comes on, it may not necessarily indicate a problem with the secondary air pump; it could also be due to a broken secondary air pipe, a ruptured vacuum tube, a damaged secondary injection valve, incorrectly installed positive wires, or a blocked cylinder head exhaust channel, among other issues.
