What Happens If Engine Oil Is Underfilled?

If the amount of oil added is slightly low, as long as the level is between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick, there is no problem. Even if it is one liter short, it will not have any impact. However, if the oil level is below the minimum mark, even if there is some oil left in the tank, it is necessary to promptly visit a 4S shop or manually top up the oil. Below are some precautions when adding oil: 1. Avoid aggressive driving, as the engine temperature will rise under high-speed operation. When the oil level is low, it can easily cause the engine to overheat, and in severe cases, the engine may be completely damaged. 2. Overfilling the oil is also not advisable. Excess oil can easily enter the combustion chamber (due to excessive internal pressure) and produce gummy carbon deposits. Over time, these deposits will become increasingly severe, not only clogging the catalytic converter holes and causing excessive exhaust emissions (increased fuel consumption), but in severe cases, it may also lead to oil burning. Additionally, excessive oil can reduce the gas volume in the crankcase, increase pressure, and cause oil seals to leak.
