What engines does Geely use?

Different Geely models are equipped with different engines. The engine model specification is JLH-3G15TD, with the 1.4T engine delivering a maximum power of 104kW and peak torque of 235Nm, while the 1.5T engine offers a maximum power of 130kW and peak torque of 255Nm. Another engine model specification is JLY-4g15, with a maximum power of 80kW, maximum horsepower of 109, and maximum torque speed of 140N.m. Geely's engines are independently developed by Geely Automobile Company, so they are classified as domestic engines. For daily maintenance of Geely's engines, the following methods can be used: Use lubricating oil of appropriate quality grade. For gasoline engines, select SD--SF grade gasoline engine oil based on the additional devices in the intake and exhaust systems and usage conditions; for diesel engines, choose CB--CD grade diesel engine oil according to mechanical load, with the selection standard not lower than the manufacturer's specified requirements. Regularly change the engine oil and filter. The quality of any grade of lubricating oil will change during use. After a certain mileage, performance deteriorates, leading to various engine problems. To avoid malfunctions, change the oil regularly based on usage conditions and maintain an appropriate oil level. When oil passes through the fine pores of the filter, solid particles and viscous substances in the oil accumulate in the filter. If the filter becomes clogged and oil cannot pass through the filter element, it may rupture the filter element or bypass the safety valve, carrying contaminants back to the lubrication area, accelerating engine wear and increasing internal pollution. Regularly clean the crankcase. During engine operation, high-pressure unburned gases, acids, moisture, sulfur, and nitrogen oxides from the combustion chamber enter the crankcase through the gap between the piston rings and cylinder walls, mixing with metal particles from component wear to form sludge. Small amounts remain suspended in the oil, while larger amounts precipitate, clogging filters and oil passages, making engine lubrication difficult and causing wear. Regularly use radiator cleaner to clean the radiator. Removing rust and scale not only ensures the engine operates properly but also extends the overall lifespan of the radiator and engine.
Geely uses a variety of engine types in their vehicles. I’ve personally driven several models and am most familiar with their self-developed G-Power series, such as the 1.4L turbocharged and 1.5T engines, which are installed in models like the Boyue or Binyue. These engines deliver stable power output and are fuel-efficient, making them great for city driving with smooth acceleration from a standstill. For premium models like the Xingyue, Geely collaborates with Volvo to use the Drive-E series 2.0T engine, which offers exceptional performance, low noise at high speeds, and excellent handling. Additionally, Geely has been aggressively pushing into the new energy sector in recent years. For example, the Borui GE features a hybrid engine, combining fuel and electric power to reduce fuel consumption to around 5L/100km, making it ideal for daily commuting. I feel that the choices are diverse, with engine technology continuously upgrading and high reliability—driving for years with virtually no issues. My personal suggestion is to keep an eye on Geely’s official website, as they frequently release new models paired with the latest engine solutions.
