What engine is equipped in the BYD Surui?

BYD Surui is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Taking the 2018 BYD Surui as an example, its body structure is a four-door, five-seater sedan with dimensions of 4680mm in length, 1765mm in width, and 1490mm in height, a wheelbase of 2660mm, a fuel tank capacity of 50L, a trunk capacity of 450L, and a curb weight of 1330kg. The front suspension of the 2018 BYD Surui is a MacPherson independent suspension, and the rear suspension is a torsion beam non-independent suspension.
The early BYD Surui was mainly equipped with two types of engines. One was the 1.5L naturally aspirated BYD473QE, featuring an all-aluminum cylinder block and dual overhead camshaft design, delivering smooth power and fuel efficiency. It was perfectly adequate for daily commuting, with fuel consumption just over 7 liters per 100 kilometers, and regular mineral oil was sufficient for maintenance. However, it felt a bit sluggish when overtaking on highways. The other was the 1.5T turbocharged BYD476ZQA, equipped with direct fuel injection technology, providing quick low-end torque for better hill climbing and overtaking. Paired with a dual-clutch transmission, it offered more direct acceleration, but required attention to turbo pipeline sealing during later maintenance. My old Surui has clocked 100,000 kilometers, and the engine and chassis have never needed major repairs, proving the reliability of domestic engines is actually quite trustworthy.
