Geely Emgrand is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine. The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine in the Emgrand delivers 109 horsepower and a maximum torque of 140 N·m. This engine can output maximum power at 6000 rpm and reach peak torque at 4400 rpm. The engine features DVVT technology and uses an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT transmission. In terms of body dimensions, the Geely Emgrand measures 4631mm in length, 1789mm in width, and 1470mm in height.
I've been driving my Geely Emgrand for three years now, and I must say its engine is truly impressive. It's powered by Geely's in-house developed BHE15 series 1.5L turbocharged engine. Even in congested city traffic, it never feels underpowered – acceleration is smooth, especially when overtaking, as it responds quickly to throttle input. With about 177 horsepower, it's both more fuel-efficient and more powerful compared to the old 1.8L naturally aspirated version. Maintenance is hassle-free too, with oil changes costing less than 300 yuan, and parts being widely available. On long highway trips, the engine remains stable with no overheating issues. It features DVVT technology for optimized air intake and direct fuel injection, resulting in high combustion efficiency and low noise levels. Geely has come a long way from imitation to innovation in recent years. Although there's occasionally a slight hum during cold starts, overall reliability is rock-solid, and its cost-performance ratio truly rivals that of Honda and Toyota.
