What does V8 mean in cars?

V8 in cars refers to an engine with 8 cylinders arranged in a V-shaped configuration. The arrangement of cylinders mainly includes in-line, V-type, W-type, etc. Engines with 5 cylinders or fewer usually adopt an in-line arrangement. Under the same cylinder diameter, the more cylinders an engine has, the larger the displacement and the higher the power output. With the same displacement, more cylinders mean a smaller cylinder diameter, allowing for higher rotational speeds and thus achieving greater power enhancement. V-type engines have compact length and height dimensions, making them very convenient to arrange. V-type engines are considered more advanced and are one of the hallmarks of sedan-level vehicles. The V8 engine has a very complex structure and is less commonly used.
