VIN number refers to the vehicle identification code of a car, which mainly includes information such as the manufacturer, year, model, and body type of the vehicle. The vehicle identification code is usually fixed on the left side of the car's dashboard, and can also be found on the lower left side of the front windshield, the driver's side door pillar, or the insurance policy. The vehicle identification code used in cars consists of 17 characters. Among these 17 digits, the first 3 characters represent the country of production, manufacturer, and vehicle type respectively; characters 4 to 8 represent vehicle characteristics, such as the type of car, engine type, body type, etc.; the 9th character is a check digit used to determine if the VIN is filled correctly; the 10th character represents the production year, indicating which year the car was produced; the 11th character represents the assembly location of the car, usually denoted by 0; and characters 12 to 17 represent the production serial number of the car.
