What does the SOS display in a Mercedes-Benz mean?

SOS is the emergency call system. The reasons for emergency call system abnormalities and the corresponding solutions are as follows: 1. For new cars, there may be two reasons: (1) ConnectedDrive has not been activated yet; (2) There is a hardware issue, usually a damaged communication module. After replacement, the vehicle needs to be programmed and coded. 2. For cars that have been in use for some time, possible reasons include: (1) GSM antenna issue: There are two antennas that need to be checked—one is the GSM antenna integrated into the roof antenna, and the other is the emergency GSM antenna; (2) Damaged communication module; (3) VO code issue. Many car owners like to tweak hidden settings, which may alter the VO code. Simply revert it back to the original. 3. Solutions: Make an emergency call through the ConnectedDrive system. If the call goes through, the fault alert will disappear. This only works if it's a system false alarm. If there is an actual fault, the above methods need to be followed for resolution.
