What does the range under NEDC specifications mean?

NEDC stands for New European Driving Cycle, which translates to the New European Driving Cycle in Chinese. It is Europe's range testing standard. In China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology uses the NEDC testing standard when measuring the comprehensive range of pure electric vehicles. During NEDC testing, the vehicle is placed on a dynamometer. Although it can also be conducted on a windless flat road, to simulate various conditions encountered during actual driving, the rollers in contact with the tires are equipped with motors to simulate resistance under different operating conditions. The test includes two operating conditions: the first is the urban driving cycle, which simulates city driving from 0 to 780 seconds, involving acceleration, maintaining speed, deceleration, and stopping, repeated four times. Starting from the 780th second, the second operating condition, the suburban driving cycle, is tested. In the suburban cycle, the vehicle speed is significantly faster than in the urban cycle. Tips for extending the range of pure electric vehicles: 1. Control the charging rhythm: While driving, if the battery indicator lights up yellow or red, it indicates the need to charge. If only the red light remains on, you must stop using the vehicle and charge it as soon as possible. Otherwise, excessive battery discharge will severely shorten its lifespan. If the driving time is not very long, the owner should control the charging time to avoid prolonged charging. 2. Avoid aggressive driving: Electric vehicles consume more power during aggressive driving. It is important to control the speed and drive smoothly when operating an electric vehicle.
