What does the highway MTC lane mean?

Highway MTC lane is a manual semi-automatic toll collection system, which is a traditional highway toll system. The MTC lane consists of an automatic vehicle classification system (AVC), card reader, display device, video surveillance, automatic barrier, and computer software system. The card reader uses either contact or contactless technology. When a vehicle enters the MTC toll lane, the automatic vehicle classification system automatically categorizes the vehicle information and then informs the software system about the type of vehicle. Based on this information, the software system instructs the card reader on the amount of toll to be charged. After the driver completes the payment, the software system sends a command to the automatic barrier to allow the vehicle to pass, completing the toll collection process.
