What does the Harley P0051 fault code mean?

Harley P0051 fault code indicates a damaged oxygen sensor, which requires timely inspection and replacement. Introduction to the oxygen sensor: In simple terms, an oxygen sensor is a sealed container (made of metal or plastic) containing two electrodes. The cathode is a piece of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coated with an active catalyst, and the anode is a lead block. This sealed container has only one capillary micro-hole at the top, allowing oxygen to pass through and reach the working electrode. Chemical principle of the oxygen sensor: When oxygen reaches the working electrode, it is immediately reduced, releasing hydroxide ions. These hydroxide ions pass through the electrolyte to the anode (lead), where they undergo an oxidation reaction with the lead, forming the corresponding metal oxide.
