It is a special license plate for new energy vehicles. On April 18, 2016, China officially introduced special license plates for new energy vehicles, primarily to effectively identify these vehicles. Small new energy vehicles have gradually green license plates, while large new energy vehicles have yellow and green plates. The first batch of new energy license plates was put into trial use on December 1, 2016. Five cities launched pilot programs, namely Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuxi, Jinan, and Shenzhen, issuing new energy vehicle license plates in sequence. On December 28, 2017, Beijing officially began using the special license plates for new energy vehicles. The new energy license plate features a unique symbol, with green as the main color, representing electricity and new energy. Compared to traditional vehicle license plates, this plate has an additional digit, making it easy to distinguish from regular plates. The production process has been improved, adopting pollution-free manufacturing methods.
