What Does the Code on Car Tires Mean?
1 Answers
Car tire codes refer to the tire width, aspect ratio, construction code, rim diameter, maximum load capacity, maximum speed rating, and load index. The maximum speed rating is represented by letters, including A, C, D, E, F, G, J, K, L, N, P, Q, R, S, T, U, H, V, W—a total of nineteen letters, each indicating a different speed rating for the tire. Tire markings, as stipulated by national standards, include the production number, manufacturer's trademark, size specifications, ply rating, maximum load and corresponding air pressure, Chinese pinyin codes for the tire cord fabric, installation requirements, and directional indicators on both sides of the tire. The international standard tire code represents the section width and aspect ratio in millimeters, followed by the tire type code, rim diameter, load index, and speed rating code.
