What does TC mean when displayed on a car?

When TC is displayed on a car, it means the vehicle's traction control system is active. TC stands for Traction Control, which enhances the vehicle's mobility. When the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) detects wheel slippage, the system applies brakes to the slipping wheel to prevent loss of traction. During operation, a yellow TC indicator light on the dashboard will flash to alert the driver. The Traction Control System relies on electronic sensors to detect when a driven wheel's speed is lower than that of the driving wheels, sending a signal to adjust ignition timing, reduce throttle opening, decrease acceleration, downshift, or apply brakes to stop the wheel from slipping.
