a3b4 is the inspection and certification standard for automotive lubricants set by the European automobile manufacturing industry. Gasoline engine lubricants are divided into five quality grades: A1, fuel economy, low viscosity, equivalent to API SJ grade (semi-synthetic and full synthetic). A2, main product range, equivalent to API SG, SF grade (mineral oil and semi-synthetic). A3, higher grade product, equivalent to API SL grade (semi-synthetic and full synthetic). A4, A5, the highest grade products, surpassing all existing API oil standards (added in 2002). Light diesel engine lubricants are divided into five quality grades: B1, fuel economy, low viscosity, equivalent to API SJ grade (semi-synthetic and full synthetic). B2, main product range, equivalent to API SG, SF grade (mineral oil and semi-synthetic). B3, higher grade product, equivalent to API SL grade (semi-synthetic and full synthetic). B4, B5, the highest grade products, surpassing all existing API oil standards (added in 2002).
