Three photos captured by electronic cameras are used to determine whether a vehicle has run a red light: a photo of the vehicle crossing the stop line at the intersection, showing the red light and license plate number; a photo of the vehicle fully crossing the stop line, showing the red light and license plate number; and a photo of the vehicle continuing to move forward, comparing changes in the vehicle's position, showing the red light and license plate number. If these three photos are captured, the vehicle is determined to have run a red light. To avoid running a red light, follow these guidelines: First, observe the arrow signal, then the circular signal: Currently, there are two types of traffic signals: arrow traffic lights and circular traffic lights. When an arrow signal is present, first check the arrow signal and then the circular signal to avoid running a red light. Note: When encountering a circular red light, right turns are permitted. However, if the right-turn arrow signal is red, right turns are prohibited. Violating this rule will result in penalties for running a red light. Brake promptly: When the red light turns on, ensure the front of the vehicle does not cross the stop line. If the front wheels accidentally cross, and the rear wheels follow, the electronic camera will capture the violation, leading to penalties for running a red light. If the front wheels have just crossed the stop line when the signal turns red, passage through the intersection is prohibited. Wait for the green light before proceeding. When the red light is on, right-turning vehicles may pass, provided they do not obstruct the passage of other vehicles or pedestrians. Running a red light is not considered a violation under the following circumstances: Yielding to emergency vehicles: Yielding to ambulances, fire trucks, or other emergency vehicles. If captured by surveillance cameras while yielding, the violation will not be recorded during manual review. Even if recorded, the driver may appeal to the traffic police department. Extreme weather: When visibility is so low that even electronic police cannot clearly see the traffic signals, the evidence of violation may be blurry. In such cases, mistakenly running a red light will not result in penalties. Emergencies: When transporting a critically ill patient to the hospital, running multiple red lights may be unavoidable. After delivering the patient, the driver can present proof from the hospital or the rescued individual to the traffic police for verification. If confirmed, the violation records will be cleared.
