What does LKA mean in a car?

LKAS is a lane-keeping assist function, which belongs to one of the intelligent driving assistance systems. It can control the braking coordination device based on the Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS). When the vehicle is moving, it uses a camera to identify the lane markings and helps keep the vehicle in the lane. Currently, this system is mainly used on structured roads, such as highways and roads with good pavement conditions (clear lane markings). It starts operating when the vehicle speed reaches 65 km/h or above. Compared to traditional cruise control systems, CC is more intelligent and is generally only found in mid-to-high-end models. Its function is to monitor the vehicle ahead through radar sensors, digital processors, and control modules. When the vehicle ahead slows down, the system automatically applies the brakes to reduce speed. When the distance to the vehicle ahead increases, it automatically accelerates, always maintaining a reasonable safe distance. The role of LKAS: It prevents the vehicle from drifting. When the vehicle is likely to deviate from the lane, the system alerts the driver through an alarm, prompting the driver to consciously maintain the vehicle within the lane. As long as the vehicle speed is above 65 km/h, LKAS can be used on straight roads and curves with a radius of 230 meters or less. Therefore, LKAS can be used in almost all highway driving scenarios.
