What does keyout mean?

keyout means the key is not present. When the keyout indicator light on the dashboard lights up, it indicates that the smart key is not inside the vehicle or not within the effective range. The following are the functions of the smart key: 1. Automatic window roll-up and security function. When the key is 3-5 meters away from the vehicle, the doors automatically lock and enter the anti-theft alert state. At this time, the turn signal flashes once, the horn beeps once, and the windows automatically roll up. 2. Wireless remote control function. Remote locking of the doors causes the turn signal to flash once and the horn to beep once, putting the vehicle into the anti-theft alert state; remote unlocking of the doors causes the turn signal to flash twice and the anti-theft alarm state to be canceled.
"Key out" simply means the state when the car key is removed. As soon as the key is pulled out, the vehicle immediately shuts off—the engine stops running, and all power systems are deactivated. The anti-theft system instantly engages, locking the doors, with small dashboard lights flashing to indicate it's on alert, preventing unauthorized attempts to start the car. This feature is crucial because it also triggers a power-saving mode—electrical components like the radio and lights will either delay shutdown or reduce power consumption to avoid draining the battery. Once, while repairing a car, I encountered an issue where the taillights remained on after the key was removed. Upon inspection, it turned out to be a short circuit in the wiring, with a blown fuse causing a power leak that drained the battery. So, it's advisable to regularly check the ignition system and relays to ensure everything that should turn off does so when the key is out, preventing minor issues from escalating into major faults.
