What does it mean when the car shows EPS?

When the car shows EPS, it indicates there may be a malfunction in the vehicle's Electric Power Steering system. If the EPS warning light flashes, it is recommended to stop driving immediately and have the car inspected at a repair shop or 4S dealership. EPS stands for Electric Power Steering system. A failure in this system may result in loss of power steering assistance, causing the steering wheel to suddenly become heavier, which could be dangerous when emergency maneuvers are required. Vehicle power steering systems generally come in two types: electric power steering and hydraulic power steering. Electric power steering operates through an electric motor. Hydraulic power steering systems feature a hydraulic fluid reservoir in the engine compartment along with a power steering pump. The power steering pump is connected to the engine via a belt. If the belt breaks or the power steering pump becomes damaged, the power steering function will be lost, making the steering wheel significantly harder to turn.
