What Does Imported Car Mean?

Imported cars refer to vehicles that are not manufactured by domestic enterprises or joint ventures, meaning models produced by overseas automobile manufacturers are called imported cars. Imported cars are divided into two types: 1. Parallel imported cars: Non-national standard models, which can only be purchased overseas or obtained at ports. Parallel imported cars offer a wide range of models, purchased directly from abroad without going through manufacturers, resulting in lower costs. 2. China-spec imported cars: National standard models, obtained from 4S stores. They come with a comprehensive after-sales service network system, better suited to China's fuel quality, road conditions, climate, and other usage conditions, but are priced higher.
Imported cars are essentially vehicles purchased from abroad, such as German-made Mercedes-Benz and BMW or Japanese-built Toyotas, which are shipped across the oceans. My recent research on parallel imports revealed that, for example, Middle Eastern versions of the Land Cruiser can be over 100,000 RMB cheaper than domestic models! However, before buying, it's crucial to consider warranty and spare parts availability—some niche models might require a two-week wait for parts. Also, imported cars are subject to tariffs, with about 20% of the car's price being taxes. But many friends find it worth it for the original factory craftsmanship and unique configurations.
