Definition of Hill Descent Control: It enables the driver to smoothly navigate steep downhill sections without pressing the brake pedal, maintaining full control. The Hill Descent Control (HDC) system, also known as the Slope Control System, primarily functions to maintain a low vehicle speed and ensure tire traction on steep downhill roads, allowing the car to safely descend to flat ground. Once the Hill Descent Control is activated, the driver can release all pedals and focus solely on steering. The correct way to use Hill Descent Control is as follows (using the Volkswagen Teramont as an example): 1. In the Teramont's driving modes, select Off-Road Individualization, then enable the [Downhill Assist System] in the menu. At this point, the function indicator light on the dashboard will illuminate. 2. If the Teramont's Hill Descent Control is always enabled, it will automatically activate when the following conditions are met: vehicle speed below 30km/h, slope gradient ≥10%, and no brake or accelerator pedal pressed. If any condition is unmet, the system will automatically standby. 3. Once Hill Descent Control is activated, the driver does not need to operate the accelerator or brake. The downhill speed control range is 2~30km/h. When entering a downhill section at a speed below 30km/h, the driver can adjust the speed within this range by pressing the accelerator or brake.
