What does ESP mean in a car?

ESP stands for Electronic Stability Program. Here is relevant information about the function of ESP: 1. When the vehicle is on a road with low friction, tire slippage can cause the direction and speed of the vehicle to be uncontrollable by the driver. At this point, ESP can intervene by braking the non-slipping wheels, helping the driver regain control of the vehicle to ensure driving safety. 2. When understeer occurs, ESP will control the braking of a specific rear wheel. For example, if there is understeer to the right, it will brake the right rear wheel; if there is understeer to the left, it will brake the left rear wheel. 3. Similarly, when oversteer occurs, ESP will control the braking of a specific front wheel. For oversteer to the right, it will brake the left front wheel; for oversteer to the left, it will brake the right front wheel. On icy roads, if the vehicle skids sideways, ESP will also control the corresponding wheel braking to maintain stability.
