What does EHPS mean?

EHPS refers to the Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering system. The electro-hydraulic power steering system retains most advantages of mechanical hydraulic power steering while reducing energy consumption, offering more responsive performance, and allowing the steering assistance force to automatically adjust based on parameters such as steering angle and vehicle speed, making it more user-friendly. Since mechanical hydraulic power steering significantly consumes engine power, improvements were made on this basis to develop the more energy-efficient electro-hydraulic power steering system. In this system, the steering pump is no longer directly driven by the engine but by an electric motor, with an added electronic control system that makes the steering assistance force not only related to the steering angle but also to the vehicle speed. The mechanical structure incorporates a hydraulic reaction device and a fluid distribution valve, while the new electronic control system includes vehicle speed sensors, solenoid valves, and the steering ECU.
