EcoBoost is Ford's EcoBoost engine, which builds upon traditional gasoline engines by incorporating three key technological advantages: direct fuel injection, turbocharging, and twin independent variable camshaft timing. This not only ensures power output but also optimizes fuel economy. The core technology of Ford's EcoBoost engine is a high-pressure direct fuel injection system, capable of injecting precisely measured small amounts of fuel into each cylinder at pressures up to 200 bar. The size of the fuel droplets is typically less than 0.02 millimeters, equivalent to one-fifth the diameter of a human hair. Ford's EcoBoost four-cylinder engine features independent variable camshaft timing systems on both the intake and exhaust camshafts, optimizing airflow within the cylinders at different engine speeds.
