e-cvt stands for electronic continuously variable transmission system. It is used to coordinate the working relationship between the electric motor and the engine, and does not have complex mechanisms such as clutches, torque converters, or gear shafts found in traditional transmission systems. It is a power distribution mechanism specifically designed for hybrid vehicles. e-cvt consists of an engine, two motors, and a set of planetary gears. The engine is connected to the planetary gear carrier. When the engine rotates, the planetary gears mesh with the sun gear and the ring gear, driving them to rotate in the same direction. The advantage of e-cvt is its intelligence and flexibility. At any time, the engine and motor can determine whether to work alone or together based on the current operating conditions.

e-CVT is a common transmission in hybrid vehicles, but the name can be misleading. It's completely different from a conventional CVT—while traditional CVTs rely on steel belts for gear shifting, e-CVT achieves it through the precise coordination of electric motors and planetary gear sets. I particularly notice the advantages during my hybrid commute—quiet electric motor starts at red lights, and ultra-smooth engine engagement during acceleration. The biggest perk is fuel efficiency: my colleague’s same-model gasoline car burns 8L per 100km, while my hybrid sips just 4.5L. The clutch-free design also makes it incredibly durable—many ride-hailing drivers clock 300,000km without transmission replacements. However, the engine’s sudden charging during cold starts takes some getting used to, with its noticeable humming sound.

What documents are required for motor vehicle scrapping?

Motor vehicle scrapping requires the motor vehicle license, motor vehicle registration certificate, vehicle license plate, organization code certificate (copy) with official seal for unit vehicles, personal vehicle owners must bring their ID card, accident vehicle certification materials, unit vehicles must affix the official seal (consistent with the license holder name) on the "Motor Vehicle Deregistration Application Form" and "Scrapped Vehicle Certificate", while personal vehicle owners need to sign. Vehicle scrapping process: The vehicle owner applying for scrapping and renewal must fill out and stamp one copy of the "Motor Vehicle Alteration, Transfer, Modification, Suspension, and Scrapping Approval Application Form". Apply at the registration acceptance counter, where a "Vehicle Scrapping Notice" will be issued for vehicles that have reached the scrapping age limit. For vehicles that have not reached the scrapping age limit, after inspection and confirmation by the motor vehicle inspection counter that they meet scrapping standards, a "Vehicle Scrapping Notice" will be issued. The vehicle owner can choose a qualified recycling company to dismantle the vehicle with the "Notice". The recycling company will dismantle the vehicle and take photos after verifying the "Notice". The engine must be separated from the vehicle, the engine block must be broken, and the frame (chassis) must be cut. The vehicle owner must present the "Alteration Form", "XX Province Renewal Vehicle Technical Appraisal Form", "Scrapped Vehicle Recycling Certificate", and vehicle dismantling photos to the motor vehicle inspection counter for verification and signature. The license plates and certificates will be reclaimed, and the scrapping registration will be processed after approval according to regulations.

What to Do If the Controller Is Damaged?

The solutions for a damaged controller are: 1. Check the power management circuit, use a multimeter to measure whether the output voltage at each point is correct, and replace any damaged components; 2. Check the interface with external functional components; 3. Check whether the main chip is damaged; 4. Check the power tube drive circuit. The controller is a command device that changes the wiring of the main circuit or control circuit and the resistance value in the circuit according to a predetermined sequence to control the motor's start, speed regulation, braking, and reverse. If the controller is damaged, the vehicle may not be able to move or may experience weak movement, leading to difficulty in starting and pushing the vehicle.

Can blue antifreeze and green antifreeze be mixed?

Blue antifreeze and green antifreeze cannot be mixed, and the same brand of antifreeze must be used. Different brands of antifreeze have different production formulas. If mixed, chemical reactions are likely to occur between various additives, rendering them ineffective. Vehicle antifreeze generally needs to be replaced every 2 years or 40,000 kilometers, which is just a reference period. For commercial vehicles with longer mileage, the replacement cycle is shorter. Since driving conditions vary for each vehicle, the replacement should be based on actual usage. Check the antifreeze's condition; if it is found to be insufficient, replenish it promptly. If suspended particles, sediment, or signs of deterioration or discoloration are observed in the antifreeze, replace it immediately and clean the system. The basic indicators of antifreeze are its freezing point and boiling point. On the market, antifreeze is available with freezing points of -15°C, -25°C, -30°C, -40°C, etc. Generally, it is advisable to choose one that is at least 10°C lower than the lowest temperature in your region.

What does 'trip' on the car dashboard mean?

The 'trip' on the car dashboard refers to the trip mileage, which can be used to record the kilometers traveled for each trip. The working principle of the odometer is: knowing the diameter of the car wheel, the circumference of the wheel can be calculated, and then the number of rotations required for the wheel to travel one mile can be determined. The odometer automatically records the number of wheel rotations, and dividing by the number of rotations corresponding to one mile gives the mileage traveled. The car dashboard is equipped with various indicator lights or warning lights, including: 1. Coolant level warning light; 2. Charging indicator light; 3. High/low beam indicator light; 4. Transmission gear indicator light; 5. Anti-lock braking system (ABS) indicator light; 6. Traction control indicator light and airbag warning light; 7. Front/rear fog light indicator and warning light; 8. Electronic throttle indicator light.
