What does DPF mean for diesel vehicles?

Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), also known as Diesel Particulate Trap Regenerator, is designed to reduce particulate matter (PM) emissions in exhaust gases. When the indicator light illuminates, it signifies that carbon particles generated from diesel combustion are being intercepted and temporarily stored by this device, which may lead to DPF clogging and the activation of the warning light. A clogged DPF does not require replacement; instead, performing a DPF regeneration process to remove accumulated particles is sufficient. Additional Information: 1. Manual Regeneration: Due to inconsistent fuel quality in domestic markets and complex vehicle operating conditions, DPF clogging may involve not only carbon soot but also significant oil contamination. In some cases, automatic regeneration may not resolve DPF issues in China VI-compliant diesel vehicles, necessitating manual regeneration by heating the DPF substrate at high temperatures. 2. Fault Handling: Drive the vehicle at speeds below 80 km/h. When the issue arises, promptly move the vehicle off the road, away from flammable and explosive materials. Once the vehicle is stationary, shift to neutral, engage the parking brake, and press the DPF control button. The yellow indicator light will remain steadily lit during the process, which typically takes 15-30 minutes. Upon completion of particulate matter treatment, the indicator light will automatically turn off.
