What does D gear mean?

D gear is the manual mode upshift in automatic transmission models. When driving in D gear, you can press and hold the gear lever and push it to the right into the D minus position. At this time, the gear lever is between D plus and D minus. Then, by pressing and pushing forward once or pulling back once, you can increase or decrease a gear. The gear position is displayed digitally on the dashboard, allowing continuous shifting. To protect the transmission, manual shifting is also limited. When manually upshifting, the transmission will only shift up one gear when the engine reaches the maximum speed matching the gear. Conversely, when manually downshifting, the transmission will only shift down one gear if the engine does not exceed the speed limit. Automatic transmission does not require the driver to manually shift gears; the vehicle will automatically select the appropriate gear based on driving speed and traffic conditions.
