CVT stands for Continuously Variable Transmission, which is an automatic transmission. CVT can achieve continuously variable transmission over a wide range, obtaining the optimal match between the transmission system and engine conditions. It relies on the transmission's continuously variable speed regulation to adapt to various vehicle speeds, allowing the engine to operate under optimal conditions for extended periods. Therefore, it can improve engine combustion efficiency and correspondingly enhance fuel economy. The functions of a transmission are: 1. To change the transmission ratio, expanding the range of torque and speed variation of the driving wheels, enabling the engine to operate under favorable conditions; 2. To allow the vehicle to reverse while maintaining the engine's rotation direction; 3. To utilize neutral gear to interrupt power transmission, enabling the engine to start and idle, facilitating gear shifting or power output in the transmission.
CVT stands for Continuously Variable Transmission, which falls under the category of automatic transmissions. It's completely different from the manual transmissions we commonly see—manual transmissions require you to step on the clutch and shift gears yourself, while CVT doesn't involve any gear shifting at all! It achieves speed variation by using two conical pulleys clamping a steel belt, with the belt sliding back and forth on the pulleys to achieve continuously variable gear ratios. I'm currently driving a CVT-equipped car, and the most noticeable feeling is the incredibly smooth acceleration, with no sense of gear-shifting jerks at all. Although some cars come with a simulated manual shift mode, it's not the same as a true manual transmission, as it's essentially still a computer-controlled continuously variable transmission at its core.
