What does Corolla SCVT mean?

Corolla SCVT refers to the transmission, which inherits the characteristics of the CVT transmission while improving some of its shortcomings. The SCVT transmission is Toyota's third-generation transmission in China, and the Toyota 8-speed SCVT uses the third-generation CVT transmission. Based on the previous generation of CVT transmission, this SCVT transmission incorporates four key improvements: a dual-output oil circuit design, flexible lock-up technology, low-viscosity new CVT transmission oil, and new control logic. Taking the Corolla 2021 1.2T S-CVT Pioneer PLUS version as an example: the vehicle is manufactured by FAW Toyota, classified as a compact car, with a gasoline energy type, and equipped with a CVT continuously variable transmission (simulating 10 gears).
I remember driving a Corolla with SCVT for several years. SCVT stands for Super Continuously Variable Transmission, which is called Super Continuously Variable Transmission in Chinese. It is much smoother than traditional transmissions, with no jerking during acceleration or deceleration, making the drive as comfortable as gliding through water. Especially during long-distance drives or city traffic jams, it helped me save a lot of fuel, with an average fuel consumption as low as around 5L/100km. Once, when I went on an outing with friends, his manual transmission car shook violently when starting uphill, while my Corolla with SCVT remained as steady as a rock, earning everyone's envy. However, the response might be slightly slower during rapid acceleration, but once you get used to it, it feels sufficient. For maintenance, I recommend changing the transmission oil every 60,000 kilometers to keep the performance stable. This transmission truly enhances the daily driving experience, making the Corolla a reliable companion.
