What does CarPlay mean?

CarPlay is an in-car system launched by Apple Inc. in the United States, which seamlessly integrates users' iOS devices and iOS usage experience with the dashboard system. It allows users to communicate with the car through Siri, instructing the car on what to do next. Users can also hear the system broadcast messages received on their phones and reply using voice dictation. Some cars that support CarPlay are equipped with a touchscreen display, enabling users to open or close applications on a relatively simple home screen. Physical buttons in the car are one of the ways to control CarPlay, with operations like volume control and track switching seamlessly integrated.
I've always found CarPlay to be quite practical - essentially it serves as a bridge between iPhones and car screens. When I plug in the cable while driving, apps from my phone get projected onto the central display, making navigation and music much more convenient. Recently on long trips, Apple Maps provided exceptionally accurate route guidance with real-time traffic updates. Siri voice control is the most hassle-free feature - just say "call my wife" and it dials automatically, allowing me to keep both hands on the wheel. Some luxury models even support wireless connection, though my older car still requires a data cable. This functionality is perfect for people like me who rely on their phones but want to avoid distractions while driving - it genuinely improves safety.
