What does BYDM DM mean?

BYDM DM is a dual-mode power vehicle. If pure electric is called EV and hybrid is called HEV, then BYDM's DM model is EV plus HEV. DM technology, or Dual Mode technology, is a leading plug-in hybrid technology. Its development philosophy is economical savings for short-distance electric driving and powerful performance for long-distance gasoline driving, balancing both performance and energy efficiency. The BYDM DM has a body length of 4960mm, width of 1910mm, height of 1495mm, and a wheelbase of 2920mm. The vehicle's engine has a maximum power of 141kW and a maximum torque of 320Nm.
BYD DM refers to BYD Auto's Dual Mode technology, which is a plug-in hybrid system. I understand it as giving the car dual power sources: it can run purely on electricity to save fuel consumption, and also switch to a fuel engine to avoid range anxiety. The DM system is further divided into the DM-i series, which focuses on intelligent fuel efficiency by utilizing high-efficiency engines and battery systems, making city commuting mostly electric; while the DM-p model emphasizes performance with quick acceleration and strong power delivery. In actual driving, it can significantly reduce carbon emissions and increase the proportion of green energy, benefiting the environment. I think this technology is quite forward-looking, solving the charging issues of pure electric vehicles and fitting well into the current transitional phase with insufficient infrastructure. BYD uses its self-developed Blade Battery, which is safe, reliable, and extends battery life, showcasing integrated innovation rather than just simple assembly.
