What does brakewear mean?

brakewear is a brake wear indicator, which is commonly found in Mercedes-Benz vehicles. It indicates the wear of the brake pads on the car. The wear of the brake pads is determined by the vehicle's usage. During the operation of the car, the brake pads will naturally wear out, but the extent of wear depends on the driver's driving habits and the road conditions the vehicle is driven on. Brake pads are generally composed of a steel plate, a bonded heat-insulating layer, and a friction block. The heat-insulating layer is made of non-heat-conductive materials to provide insulation. The friction block consists of friction materials and adhesives. When braking, it is pressed against the brake disc or drum to generate friction, thereby achieving the purpose of decelerating or stopping the vehicle.
