BMW 5 Series is a high-end sedan under the BMW brand, classified as a mid-size luxury car with a stylish appearance. It is highly favored by young successful individuals and holds a significant market share in China's mid-to-high-end car market. As the direct successor to the BMW 1500-2000 "New Class" models, the all-new 5 Series four-door mid-size sedan was introduced in 1972. BMW Introduction: BMW (Bavarian Motor Works), fully known in Chinese as Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, is a German automobile brand. BMW's vehicle lineup includes four categories: i, X, Z, and pure numeric models (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 series), along with the M series (BMW's official high-performance division) which is based on enhancements to these series. BMW Series Overview: The 5 Series represents the third-generation product of the E34. In April 2017, the all-new BMW 5 Series long-wheelbase version made its global debut. BMW sedans consist of four series: 3, 5, 7, and 8. The first digit in a BMW sedan model indicates its series number, the second and third digits denote engine displacement, while the final letter 'i' stands for fuel injection, 'A' for automatic transmission, 'C' for two-seater configuration, and 'S' for super luxury.

I drove an older BMW 5 Series for over three years. It's a mid-to-large-size luxury sedan from BMW, positioned between the 3 Series and 7 Series. What attracted me most was its balance between handling and space—it could comfortably take my family on trips with two large suitcases in the trunk, while still offering driving pleasure on mountain roads. The seats provided excellent support, making long drives comfortable without back pain. The newer models now come with features like soft-close doors and a panoramic sunroof, which are much more advanced than my old one. As for fuel consumption, it was around 12 liters per 100 km in the city, though aggressive driving would push that higher.

Remember that boxy E34 5 Series our fathers drove in the 90s? Now it's evolved to the eighth-generation G60. Actually, the BMW 5 Series is the backbone of the BMW brand, equivalent to the Audi A6 level. Recently, the pure electric i5 was launched with a range of over 600 kilometers. Each generation of this car has undergone significant changes - for example, the current model's hidden door handles and curved dual-screen display look very futuristic. Honestly, after driving a 5 Series, switching to a regular B-segment car makes the suspension damping difference particularly noticeable.

Last week, I accompanied a friend to a 4S dealership to look at cars. The salesperson mentioned that the 5 Series 525Li would cost around 450,000 RMB out the door. It has a longer wheelbase than the 3 Series, making it easy to cross your legs in the back seat, yet it's not as business-oriented as the 7 Series. The most impressive feature was the optional Bowers & Wilkins sound system—the bass was so powerful it made your back tingle. Compared to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class in the same segment, the BMW's steering wheel is noticeably lighter and more responsive. The salesperson also pointed out a detail: the new model uses Sensafin synthetic leather seats, which are easier to clean than real leather, especially for coffee stains.
