What does automotive adhesion mean?
1 Answers
Automotive adhesion refers to the bonding condition between the tires and the road surface. The magnitude of adhesion is related to factors such as vehicle weight, tire material, type, tread pattern, tire pressure, road surface type, dryness, temperature, and speed. Due to the complexity of driving conditions, a differentiated and in-depth analysis should be conducted for different driving scenarios. In special circumstances, adjusting tire pressure can be considered to increase the adhesion coefficient. Larger diameter tires have an increased contact area due to their larger radius of curvature. Increasing the width of the wheels can also expand the contact patch area of the tires, thereby enhancing adhesion. Similarly, using radial tires, which have a wider contact area compared to bias-ply tires, can also achieve the goal of increasing the adhesion coefficient.
