Automatic D gear is the gear used when an automatic transmission car moves forward. The D gear is generally located in the middle and rear position of the gear shift console, behind the N gear, aiming to automatically select the appropriate gear when the car is moving forward. When the gear shift lever is placed in the D gear, the hydraulic system control device will automatically connect the corresponding forward gear oil circuit based on the throttle opening signal and vehicle speed signal. The planetary gear transmission system, dual-clutch transmission system, or continuously variable transmission belt system will obtain the corresponding transmission ratio under the control of the actuator. As the output shaft speed and engine speed change, the system will automatically shift up or down to the appropriate gear among the forward gears, achieving the automatic transmission function.

Which Emission Standard Does 2014 Belong To?

Vehicles registered in 2014 could comply with either China IV or China V emission standards. More details about the emission standards are as follows: I. Implementation Time of China IV Standard. 1. On December 21, 2010, the Ministry of Environmental Protection issued the "Reply on the Implementation Date of the Fourth Stage of National Motor Vehicle Emission Standards," making appropriate adjustments to the implementation date of the China IV standard. 2. According to the document, the implementation of the China IV standard for compression-ignition engines (i.e., diesel engines) and vehicles was postponed by one year. Starting from January 1, 2012, new compression-ignition vehicles (referring to diesel vehicles) that did not meet the China IV standard could not be sold or registered; new compression-ignition engines that did not meet the China IV standard could not be sold or put into use. II. Implementation Time of China V Standard. 1. On September 17, 2013, the Ministry of Environmental Protection issued the "Limits and Measurement Methods for Emissions from Light-Duty Vehicles (China V)." 2. Beijing had resolved the supply issue of low-sulfur fuel and was ready to implement the fifth-stage emission standard for light-duty gasoline vehicles. After the release of the China V standard, Beijing became the first in the country to implement the China V emission standard for light-duty vehicles in September 2013. 3. Starting from April 30, 2014, the fifth-stage national motor vehicle air pollutant emission standard was implemented for light-duty spark-ignition engine vehicles registered in Shanghai (including those transferred from other provinces) and heavy-duty diesel vehicles used in public transport, sanitation, and postal services in Shanghai. 4. After May 1, 2014, the registration of vehicles complying with the fourth-stage emission standard was discontinued. That is, newly purchased motor vehicles sold or registered for the first time in Shanghai, or motor vehicles transferred from other regions to Shanghai for registration, had to comply with the "China V" emission standard. If they did not meet the standard, the municipal public security vehicle management department would not process the registration or transfer. III. Therefore, vehicles registered in Beijing or Shanghai in 2014 could be either China IV or China V, while in other regions, they were all China IV.

What to Do If Your Car Is Struck by Lightning While Driving?

If your car is struck by lightning while driving, the recommended actions are to turn off all devices and avoid touching anything. Here are the specific steps: Turn off devices: Turn off all electronic devices in the car, including the engine, audio system, and radio. Retract the car antenna and close all windows to create a fully enclosed space. Avoid touching: Do not touch the window handles, gear shift, steering wheel, or other metal parts. Keep your hands on your thighs, stay calm, and wait for the thunderstorm to pass. Generally, cars are less likely to be struck by lightning for two reasons: First, cars are usually not very tall and have a flat shape, which makes them less prone to lightning strikes. Second, the tires, which are in contact with the ground, have low conductivity and can be considered insulators. Objects with high resistance are less likely to be penetrated by lightning.

Is It Advisable to Buy a Test Drive Car?

If the test drive car is a media test drive vehicle, it is recommended to consider carefully. However, if the test drive car is provided by a 4S store for customer experience and has only a few hundred kilometers on it, such a car can be considered for purchase. Here is some relevant information about test drive cars: Concept: A test drive car refers to a vehicle provided by a 4S store or car dealership for potential buyers to test drive. Generally, because the vehicle's various performance aspects are tested during the test drive, drivers may engage in driving behaviors unsuitable for the break-in period, such as sudden acceleration and hard braking. Therefore, test drive cars are usually sold at a discount. Buyers should carefully consider their own situation before purchasing a test drive car. Points to Note When Choosing a Car: Try to choose a recently produced vehicle, preferably one manufactured within one or two months; pay attention to tire wear. Vehicles frequently used for test drives can be identified by the wear marks on their tires. Buyers can compare the tires of several new cars to assess the vehicle's condition in detail. Since vehicles supplied by manufacturers are transported to 4S stores via freight, tires on vehicles normally stored in warehouses rarely show scratches. Pay attention to the door handles and keys. Frequent opening and closing of doors will leave some traces. Additionally, for vehicles using mechanical keys, frequent use will leave some scratches around the lock. These can help identify the authenticity of the vehicle.

What Do the Red and Yellow Dots on Tires Mean?

Tires The solid red dot on a tire indicates the position of maximum longitudinal vibration, meaning this is the heaviest spot, or in technical terms, the center of gravity. During rotation, tires generate vibration, and this spot is where the vibration is most pronounced. Conversely, the hollow yellow dot represents the position of minimum longitudinal vibration, indicating the lightest spot on the tire. Here are some precautions for tire installation: Valve stem alignment with the heaviest point: A car's wheel consists of three parts: the tire, the rim, and the valve stem. The valve stem is first installed on the rim and should align with the rim's heaviest point. Yellow mark alignment with the heaviest point: When assembling the tire, the position marked with a yellow dot on the tire should correspond to the rim's heaviest point to achieve better dynamic balance.

Where can I find the manufacturing date of a new car?

The manufacturing date of a car can be found below the B-pillar on the passenger side or on the certificate that comes with the new car. Specific details are as follows: Below the B-pillar on the passenger side: Open the door to see the nameplate, which only shows the year and month. The nameplate also includes the vehicle's VIN. Certificate that comes with the new car: Located in the upper right corner of the certificate, the production date here can be specified down to the year, month, and day. Note that not all vehicle models are applicable to the above two methods. When a new car arrives at the dealership, there will be a paper nameplate on the front windshield of the driver's seat. The paper nameplate shows the VIN and the official fuel consumption. If the bottom of the paper nameplate specifies the year, month, and day, it can be considered as the manufacturing date. If the nameplate only shows the year and month, it cannot be used as the manufacturing date.

Do I need to go in person for a driver's license renewal?

When renewing a driver's license, the license holder does not need to go in person, but they must prepare all the necessary materials for renewal. Additionally, the proxy must bring their own ID card. Below is relevant information about driver's license renewal: Required materials: Original driver's license, original and copy of ID card, four one-inch color photos with white background and without a hat, and a medical examination certificate from a county-level or above hospital. Notes: For driver's license renewal upon expiration, it can be normally renewed if it does not exceed one year. If it exceeds one year, the system will automatically change the license status to "canceled but recoverable," which requires passing a theory test to restore the license. If it exceeds two years, an additional road test is required. If it exceeds three years, the license will be directly canceled. Therefore, make sure not to exceed one year, as renewal is still possible within one year. Also, never drive during this period, or the traffic police will treat it as driving without a license.
