Red license plates are used for official vehicles and national security vehicles. The plates feature yellow characters on a red background, with the issuing authority's number displayed below. These are typically used as escort vehicles for members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the President of China, the Vice President, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Premier of the State Council, the Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and the Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. Issued in limited quantities, these represent first-level security clearance and have the authority to implement traffic control on road sections. Introduction to various license plates: Blue plates with white characters (blue plates): These are the most common license plates in daily life, exclusively for small vehicles. However, they're not limited to passenger cars - minibuses with fewer than 9 seats and commercial trucks with a load capacity under 1.5 tons can also use blue plates. Yellow plates with black characters (yellow plates): Vehicles with yellow plates mainly include large trucks, ordinary M2 class light buses, medium and large buses, agricultural vehicles, trailers, minivans with 10 or more seats, and trucks with a load capacity exceeding 1.0 tons. Additionally, passenger cars exceeding 6 meters in length require yellow plates and a Class B or higher driver's license. White plates with black characters (white plates): White plates are commonly seen on vehicles belonging to public security departments, judicial authorities, procuratorates, armed police forces, and the People's Liberation Army - essentially state power institutions. Green plates with black characters (green plates): These are new energy vehicle plates, though not all new energy vehicles qualify. Pure electric vehicles (PEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) can use green plates, while hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) cannot.
