What Does a Multi-Function Steering Wheel Mean?
1 Answers
Multi-function steering wheel refers to a steering wheel that has additional function buttons added to the positions within reach of the thumb and the lower side of the steering wheel. These buttons typically include functions such as adjusting the interior temperature, turning on/off and controlling the in-car audio system, answering phone calls, etc. Some models also integrate cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. Advantages of multi-function steering wheels: Drivers can directly operate many electronic devices in the car from the steering wheel without having to search for various buttons on the center console. This allows them to focus more on the road ahead, significantly improving driving safety. Originally an equipment feature of mid-range cars, multi-function steering wheels have gradually become more common in family cars due to technological advancements. Many small/compact cars launched in 2013 were equipped with this feature. Although most functions are limited to audio control, they provide considerable convenience and enjoyment for family car users. There are two types of steering wheel adjustments. One is two-way adjustment, and the other is four-way adjustment. Two-way adjustment: Adjusts the vertical distance of the steering wheel to meet the needs of drivers of different heights for the up and down space between the steering wheel and themselves. Axial adjustment: Adjusts the length along the axis of the steering wheel to meet the needs of drivers of different builds for the distance between the steering wheel and themselves. Cars with only one of these adjustment types are referred to as two-way adjustable, while those with both are four-way adjustable.
