What Does a Hybrid Car License Plate Look Like?

Hybrid car license plates are blue, indicating vehicles that use an electric motor as an auxiliary power source to assist the engine. Advantages of hybrid cars: 1. They can be refueled at gas stations just like conventional gasoline vehicles, requiring no change in driving habits; 2. They offer excellent fuel economy and superior driving performance; 3. Their power output surpasses that of pure internal combustion engine vehicles with the same displacement; 4. They reduce mechanical noise inside the vehicle. Disadvantages of hybrid cars: 1. The technology is not yet mature, and the cost of maintaining two power systems (electric motor and internal combustion engine) is significantly higher than that of a single power system; 2. They are not fuel-efficient during prolonged high-speed or constant-speed driving.
I've been driving a hybrid electric vehicle for several years, and domestically it uses a regular blue license plate, just like gasoline-powered cars, without any special markings. This is because, unlike pure electric vehicles that can be charged by plugging in, the government defines 'new energy' as limited to pure electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles, which are the ones that get green license plates. When I first bought a Toyota Prius, I thought it might qualify for a special plate, but the 4S dealership explained clearly: hybrids save fuel but don’t qualify for new energy subsidies, so the plates remain the traditional blue background with white characters. On the road, people often ask curiously about this, and I explain the tiered environmental policies—only vehicles capable of zero-emission mode for dozens of kilometers qualify for green plates. This design is actually the transportation department's way of distinguishing emission reduction effects and promoting clean transportation; but I do hope that in the future, the identifiers can be unified to make things clear at a glance. After all, with more and more new energy vehicles on the road, license plate regulations should also keep up with the times.
