What documents should you receive after buying a car?

After purchasing a car, you should receive the following documents: one vehicle license, purchase invoice, insurance policy, one motor vehicle registration certificate, purchase tax certificate, annual inspection sticker (to be affixed to the upper right corner of the windshield), compulsory traffic insurance sticker, and environmental protection sticker. New vehicles must pass inspection at a vehicle testing center before license plates can be issued. After completing the license plate registration process for each vehicle, in addition to issuing the owner with license plates, vehicle license, and motor vehicle registration book, the vehicle management department will also establish a vehicle file. The file contains the vehicle registration form, inspection form, motor vehicle inspection certificate, duplicate copy of the purchase invoice, duplicate copy of the compulsory traffic insurance policy, and duplicate copy of the vehicle purchase tax certificate. Each vehicle not only has a paper file but also an electronic file established in the corresponding motor vehicle management system.
After buying a car, I need to make sure I have a bunch of key documents in hand. First is the purchase invoice, which proves you're the owner and have paid. Second is the vehicle registration certificate, commonly known as the 'green book,' essential for transferring ownership or selling the car. Third is the vehicle license, which you must carry when driving to stay legal. Fourth is the insurance policy, including compulsory traffic insurance and commercial insurance, otherwise, you'll have to pay out of pocket in case of an accident. I'll also get the car purchase contract—don’t lose it, as it’s the transaction record. For a new car, there’s also the three-guarantee certificate, which covers repairs during the warranty period. Don’t forget the temporary license plate—some places issue plastic plates instead of formal ones. Keep all these documents safe in a dedicated folder so you can produce them immediately if stopped by traffic police or needing to file an insurance claim. I’ve seen many people carelessly misplace them, only to face a nightmare of replacements later.
