What Do Tire Specification Parameters Mean?
1 Answers
Tire specification parameters represent the tire's width, aspect ratio, type, and applicable size. Taking the 225/60R17 model as an example, 225 indicates the tire section width is 225mm, 60 is the aspect ratio, meaning the tire sidewall height is 60% of the tire section width, R stands for radial tire, and 17 denotes that the tire is suitable for 17-inch rims. Radial tires have steel belts added to the tread area, enabling them to withstand higher internal pressure stress, with characteristics such as less tread deformation, better ground grip, and stability, making them more suitable for high-speed driving. Nowadays, passenger cars commonly use radial tires.
