Ford Motor Company owns a diverse portfolio of automotive brands, technology subsidiaries, and financial services arms. The core of its ownership includes the Lincoln luxury brand and a significant stake in Rivian, an electric vehicle maker. However, its most substantial holdings are through its Ford Motor Credit Company for financing and a controlling interest in Ford Otosan, a Turkish joint venture responsible for manufacturing its popular Transit commercial vans. It's crucial to note that Ford has recently divested its majority stakes in other brands, including the sale of Volvo to Geely in 2010 and Aston Martin in 2007.

The company's strategy has shifted from acquiring luxury European marques to developing its own global brands and investing in future technologies. A key part of this is Ford Pro, a dedicated vehicle services and distribution business for commercial customers. Ford also maintains ownership in various mobility and technology ventures, though these are often fluid as the industry evolves.

The following table outlines key current and recent major holdings:

Honestly, most people think Ford just makes F-150s and Mustangs. But they’re a huge corporation. They obviously own Lincoln, their luxury arm. Beyond that, a lot of their "ownership" is about controlling stakes in companies you don't see, like their financing division and a big joint venture in Turkey that builds their vans. They used to own Jaguar and Volvo but sold them off over a decade ago to focus on their core brands.

From a business perspective, Ford's portfolio is leaner than in the past. Current key assets include the wholly-owned Lincoln brand and Ford Credit. Their most significant operational ownership is a controlling stake in Ford Otosan, which is critical for their commercial vehicle strategy. They also hold a minor investment in Rivian. The strategy has clearly moved away from acquiring legacy brands toward internal development and strategic partnerships in electrification and commercial services.

It's interesting to look at what Ford used to own. They had a Premier Automotive Group that included Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, and Aston Martin. They sold all of them between 2007 and 2010. This history shows a major strategic shift. Today, their ownership is more focused, with Lincoln being the main brand alongside their core Ford nameplate, plus crucial financial and commercial vehicle partnerships that support the main business.

What is the situation when an automatic transmission car cannot shift gears?

Here are the specific reasons and solutions for an automatic transmission car not being able to shift gears: 1. Internal failure of the gear shift lever assembly. Solution: Repair the gear shift lever assembly. 2. Failure of the P-gear lock solenoid valve inside the gear shift lever and failure of the brake switch. Solution: Repair the solenoid valve and brake switch. Here are some additional information: 1. Looking down at the gear lever while shifting. 2. Driving in low gear for a long time. High gear is more fuel-efficient than low gear. Therefore, you should shift up in time after starting. 3. The clutch pedal is not fully depressed when shifting, causing gear damage. In addition, when the clutch is not in use, the foot should not be placed on the clutch, as this will cause excessive wear of the release bearing. 4. The direction deviates when shifting. 5. Forcing the gear lever when it cannot shift at once. 6. Shaking the gear lever back and forth when it is in neutral. This can cause unnecessary wear of parts and affect the timing of shifting. 7. Skipping gears when shifting up. Shifting up should be done step by step to prevent the car's power from being discontinuous, while shifting down can skip gears. 8. Engaging reverse gear before the car comes to a complete stop. This can easily cause gear damage.
