What Causes the Squeaking Sound at Startup That Disappears at Higher Speeds?

There are two main reasons why a car may produce abnormal noises at startup that disappear as speed increases: resonance-induced noises and powertrain malfunctions. Resonance-induced Noises: Many components in a vehicle are susceptible to resonance. During startup, as the engine speed increases, the resulting vibrations become more pronounced. This causes interior trim panels, seats, chassis components, and other parts to vibrate together. However, as the vehicle gradually accelerates and engine speed stabilizes, vibrations decrease, causing the resonance between components to cease and the abnormal noise to naturally disappear. When this occurs, components should be inspected one by one before implementing targeted solutions. Powertrain Malfunctions: To quickly reach optimal operating temperature, a car automatically increases its idle speed. This is because most engine oil accumulates in the oil pan, and at low temperatures, the oil's flow rate is poor, leading to inadequate engine lubrication. As a result, components are more prone to producing abnormal noises. Once the engine warms up and lubrication returns to normal, this issue typically resolves itself.
