What Causes the Smell of Gasoline in the Car?
1 Answers
The smell of gasoline in the car may be due to leaks at the fuel pipe connections or overfilling the fuel tank. Leaks in the fuel pipe: The gasoline smell can enter the car through the air conditioning system. Leaks usually occur at the connections between pipes. Open the engine compartment cover and visually inspect for leaks, as prolonged leakage will result in a layer of oil residue on the surface. Tightening or repairs may be necessary. Overfilling the fuel tank: Overfilling the tank can easily lead to gasoline odor inside the car. If gasoline enters the pipes of the activated carbon canister system, the liquid fuel can not only damage the carbon canister itself but also flow into the intake manifold, causing the spark plugs to flood. This can result in severe consequences, such as the car stalling when refueling or even failing to start.
