What Causes the Jerking in Dual-Clutch Transmissions?
1 Answers
The reasons for jerking in dual-clutch transmissions: Currently, there are two types of dual-clutch transmissions—dry and wet. Regardless of the type, both use mechanical clutches. During gear shifts, the clutches still need to engage and disengage, similar to a manual transmission. As a result, the smoothness of gear shifts is difficult to match that of a torque converter automatic transmission (AT), leading to relatively noticeable jerking during shifts. The structure of a dual-clutch transmission is quite similar to that of a manual transmission, except it has an additional clutch and a set of gear-shift control mechanisms. To minimize jerking in low-speed driving, drivers can switch to manual mode, which reduces the frequency of gear shifts and helps alleviate the jerking sensation.
